Day 2 Block 3: The Kite Runner

Remember to post twice for a B. More than that will get you the A. We've been seeing a lot of plot summary. You've all ready the book so that isn't necessary. We've also seen a lot of GREAT comments about characters and conflicts. Keep it up! Question each other and dig deeper.

The charecter that I find interesting is Hassan. I find him interesting becasue of his loyalty to Amir. For expample,in the kite scene Hassan endures alot of suffering and pain to keep the last kite so that Amir can have it. When Assef wanted the kite Hassan didnt give it up. He fought for it and ended up paying a huge price to keep the kite for Amir. I am very loyal to my friends but i dont think my loyalty extends as far as Hassan's did. Hassans Loyalty shows great humility not only as the servent Hassan has been raised to be but also as the friend he has become.

Rebecca Provost D2B3 The Kite Runner

When I Chose this book I was wishing that it was going to be as good as I herd it was, and it was. The Kite Runner was the book for me. I can not stop reading it, it is just that Good. I can't wait to read more.
The characters that I find interesting are Amir the main character and his father who he calls Baba. These two characters interest me because of the strange relationship that they have with each other. For example how Baba never sits down to have a real talk with him and the only time he does is if Baba wants to explain something to Amir. Amir is always trying to get his fathers attention by joining the soccer team even though Amir can not play, and by pretending that he like soccer. He is trying so hard to impress his father
The conflict between Amir and his father is that Baba said is he did not see the doctor pull Amir out of his wife he would not believe that Amir was his son. Amir over herd his father say that to his friend and now Amir is trying to do everything to prove to his father that he is his son.
All these conflicts exist because Amir is not like his father and his.

Cass Miliner D2/B3 Kite Runner

Yes I also agree that Kite Runner is a very well written book. Hassan is also my favorite character in the book. He is a genuine person. I believe that he sticks by Amir because not only does he view Amir as a friend but he also sees him as his boss as Baba is to Ali. Hassan being Hazara is seen as less fortunate then the Pahtuns making them their servants. and By the way that Amir acted toward Hassan I think Hassan understood that he needed Amir to be able get along in his home.Amir taught him things that he never learned not being able to go to school and all and for that he stood by his side.
I have a question and am wondering if anybody has paid attention to this part of the book as well. What is the war that is happening in Afganistan? I am not really that educated on global history and do not know about the war history in Afganistan and am wondering if anyone can give me a bit of an insight. Thanks it would make the reading a bit more realistic and get me further into the book.
